There was a query at the last AGM about unaffiliated players playing in the Harlow Netball League. Karen Williams
spoke to All England and they have given their response to the questions below:
Q1)
“If there are any unaffiliated participants on court then the England insurance is invalid for all players and
umpires on that court.”
Answer: Yes that is correct.
Q2)
From the floor the statement was made that “England Netball said that you have until the end of November to affiliate
players”.
Answer: This is out f date, there is no end date as you
can affiliate players throughout the year, The only dates they state are, if you have players who are participating in National
Competitions then they have to be affiliated by 26th October and by 31st December to be eligible to
vote at the AGM.
Q3)
“If players/umpires are not affiliated till after the season starts then there could be a number of games that
the players are not insured”
Answer: Correct, although England Netball to not have
an end date for affiliations, they do state that:
· Affiliated individuals may participate
in activities with new, unaffiliated participants in their Club/League for a maximum of three sessions.
· Affiliated individuals are able
to participate with a newly-formed, unaffiliated Club/League for a period of one year.
At the end of this one year grace period, the Club/League must become affiliated to ensure the insurance remains valid
for all of its affiliated participants.
· Apart from the exceptions outlined above,
the insurance of affiliated individuals is invalidated during the time they participate (train, compete, etc) with unaffiliated
individuals.
So in conclusion, no you do not have
to affiliate by the start of our season 11th September, BUT if players are not affiliated by the 4th game then
the participant is not insured and therefore invalidates the insurance for all other participants on that court.
I therefore have calculated the date
that participants in each division below must be affiliated by to continue to participate. (This means payment to either the
county or England direct)
Divisions 1 & 3 players must
be affiliated (and paid) by 23rd October 2007
Divisions 2 & 4 players must
be affiliated (and paid) by 30th October 2007
